Scholarship Description

The JETAANC Scholarship honors one high school senior each year who has demonstrated a genuine interest in Japan with a non-renewable academic scholarship. JETAANC requires that the recipient be accepted to an accredited 2-year or 4-year college in the fall semester after receiving the award and be a resident of one of the Northern California or Nevada counties that the JETAANC serves.

Applicants must: be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S.; be in the process of enrolling (full-time) in an undergraduate program at an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university commencing the Fall semester after receiving the award; be a high school senior that lives in one of the following counties: Monterey, Kings, Tulane, and Inyo counties and all California counties north of them, as well as all counties in Nevada; and Possess a sincere interest in Japan, as demonstrated by at least one year of directed study or related activity.

The JETAANC Scholarship Committee will evaluate applicants based on their demonstrated interest in Japan, academic accomplishments and interests, volunteer and/or leadership experience at school or in their local community, recommendations, and responses to questions contained in the application. A demonstrated financial need may also be taken into consideration.
