Scholarship Description

Over 300,000 Mainers have been affected by service, whether as a veteran, retiree, family member, Guard or Reserve, or active duty personnel. Many of our veterans have returned home to become community leaders and advocates for other veterans through the Maine Military and Community Network and other Veteran Councils. As a partner in these initiatives, the Bureau will continue to lead Maine's veteran advocate community in creating a streamlined, fully-integrated continuity of programs to bolster veterans' Employment opportunities, improve veterans' access to Education opportunities, reduce homelessness, enhance mental health programs and honor our veterans' remarkable legacy of service.

Maine provides a 100% waiver of tuition and all mandatory fees for spouses and dependents of veterans, or disabled veterans, as defined in Title 37B, Chapter 7, Section 505(2). Eligible applicants must have been residents of Maine for at least five years, children of veterans must enroll in this program by age 22, and parents of step-children must be married for 5 years prior to application. Schools covered under this program include the University of Maine System, Maine Community Colleges, and Maine Maritime Academy. Eligible for everything except doctoral degrees.
