Scholarship Description

The International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH) wants to educate the importance the plumbing industry plays in our daily lives through its essay scholarship. Why do you believe access to water and sanitation is a human right?

Scholarship Details

  • To educate on the importance of the plumbing industry and introduce the global impact of IWSH projects.
  • The Sandra Imprescia Essay Scholarship Committee will review essays to determine the top four. IWSH’s Board of Trustees will select and announce essay contest winners by the Fall.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to current high school seniors, full-time students in accredited technical schools, community colleges, trade schools, apprentice programs, or undergraduate students in four-year colleges or universities.
  • You are passionate that people have access to clean drinking water and safe sanitation.

Application Process

  1. Submit an essay of 800-1,600 words on the specified topic "Why do you believe access to water and sanitation is a human right?" by April 30th.
  2. Include a completed Personal Information Form, a current photo, and a letter of support from an educator.
  3. Essays must be original, typed, double-spaced, in 12-point Arial or Times New Roman, and follow MLA Handbook standards. Submit in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
  4. All submissions must include a copy of the current full-time schedule, school transcripts, or acceptance letter.

This scholarship encourages applicants who are eager to contribute to the ongoing conversation about water, sanitation, and hygiene through thoughtful, well-researched essays.
