Scholarship Description

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Endowed Scholarship is designed to recruit and retain talented American Indian students with demonstrated financial need to the University of Minnesota. This scholarship is offered to both undergraduates and graduate students. Eligible applicants must document proof of American Indian heritage, and they must demonstrate financial need. For undergraduates, this is renewable for up to eight semesters for undergraduates, depending on your degree program and contingent upon academic performance. For graduate students, the length of funding is contingent upon academic performance, the school of enrollment, the degree program, and will be determined on a case-by-case basis. This is renewable upon full-time status and a 2.5 GPA.

It is our responsibility as an institution—as part of our commitment to creating a welcoming and affirming climate—to serve and support underrepresented groups at the University of Minnesota. We also address issues of access and climate for individuals who might encounter barriers based on their religious expression, age, national origin, ethnicity, or veteran status. Deadlines will vary by scholarship.
