Scholarship Description

The mission of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance is to change perceptions of fat and end size discrimination through advocacy, education, and support. The goal of the Dr. Paul Ernsberger Research Scholarship is to provide financial support to graduate students currently enrolled in a graduate program with an accredited U.S. college or university. Dr. Ernsberger’s decades of research on metabolic syndrome, diabetes, weight cycling, and the medical harm caused by diet obsession and weight bias has had an immeasurable impact on debunking myths and misunderstandings about fat and health.

Eligibility

  • Health and related majors, such as Nutrition
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate school
  • Priority given to those with financial need and marginalized identity

Requirements

  • Online application
  • Transcripts (unofficial are acceptable)
  • Proof of enrollment
  • Recommendation/Reference form(s) - At least one recommendation/reference other than your advisor
  • Copy of your FAFSA Student Aid Report

Scholarship winners will be required to sign an agreement and submit a written report or mutually agreed upon report-back outlining your research progress, no later than the end of the academic year.
