Scholarship Description

To apply, you must be a current graduating senior (or GED recipient) or former graduate from high schools in Lancaster County, planning to attend any qualified, nonprofit 2- or 4-year college/university. The applicant must meet minimum standards for institutional admission; however, need not excel academically or maintain a specific grade point average. Preference will be given to those students who maintain academic capacity to pursue higher education; however, may not necessarily meet the criteria for high academic-based awards. Recipients of this scholarship may continue receiving funding in subsequent years (up to 4 consecutive years), provided they continue to meet the criteria listed above. Applications run from the middle of December until the due date. The number of available awards and dollar amounts will vary. Preference is given to those attending Nebraska colleges or universities.

The Arnold H. White Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 by Mr. White’s estate. Arnold H. White was a generous community citizen of Lancaster County in Nebraska. Upon his death in 2004, he left a portion of his estate to the Lincoln Community Foundation to provide scholarships to graduating seniors and former graduates from high schools in the communities of Lincoln, Lyons, or Fairbury in Nebraska. He knew the importance of a good education and wanted to help students fulfill their dreams of attaining a college degree and becoming active community citizens.
