Google-MESA Scholarship for the National Society of Black Engineers National Convention

The Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program is an organization dedicated to helping educationally disadvantaged students excel at math and science studies and graduate with engineering and computer science degrees.

To aid MESA in their mission and to encourage diversity in the computing and technology field, Google has created the MESA-Google scholarship. Winners will receive financial assistance to attend the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) annual April conference in Columbus, OH. For more information on the conference, please visit : http://www.nsbe.org/convention. Selected students will receive up to $500 to supplement their transportation, hotel, and conference registration fees. They will also be invited to attend the VIP Professional Network Reception where they will meet with NSBE alumni and Google representatives.

Applicants will need to submit a statement of purpose, an application, a resume, and a copy of transcripts. Judging will be based on academic record, leadership, involvement, and the statement.

Criteria

  • Applicants must be majoring in computer science, computer technology or computer engineering
  • A 3.0 GPA is preferred but not required
  • Applicants must be members of The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
  • Applicants must be currently participating in a MESA Community College or Engineering Program
