The B. Phinizy Spalding & Hubert B. Spalding Scholarships

The Georgia Trust annually awards two $1,000 scholarships to encourage the study of historic preservation and related fields:

- The Hubert Owens award is given in honor of the founding dean of the University of Georgia Landscape Architecture Program - now the School of Environmental Design - which houses the Historic Preservation Program.

- The B. Phinizy Spalding award is named after the late charter member of The Georgia Trust and one of the state's pre-eminent historians, educators and preservationists.

These scholarships encourage students to pursue degrees that will lead to working in preservation and related fields and thereby assist The Georgia Trust in its goals to conserve Georgia's built environment, inform the public about the benefits of historic preservation, and assist individuals and communities in their restoration and preservation projects.

Students currently enrolled in school in Georgia may apply. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of leadership and academic achievement. Please visit our website to view application guidelines and requiements, and to download an application form.
