Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship

The eligible applicant must be a graduating high school senior or a high school graduate continuing their education at an accredited institution in the year in which they are applying. They must be a resident of Michigan and a youth exhibitor at the Michigan State Fair for a minimum of three years prior to the year of application.

All questions on the application must be answered to be considered for an award. Two letters of reference must be attached along with ACT and/or SAT scores and all college transcripts, applicants graduating high school must include all high school transcripts.

Selection criteria consist of completed applications which include essays, letters of reference, and transcripts. Completed applications will be judged on (1) fair participation, (2) leadership, (3) citizenship and (4) scholastic standing. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing agricultural or related fields.

The scholarship committee reserves the right to not issue a scholarship if no applicant fulfills the requirements listed on this page or is approved by the majority of the Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship Committee.

Applicants may be interviewed at the discretion of the Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship Committee.

Applicants may apply for and receive a scholarship more than once, preference given to new applicants and past non-recipients. Scholarship winners will be announced at the Michigan State Fair Youth Livestock Auction.

Scholarship applications and criteria are available online or by written request to the Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 13295, Lansing MI, 48901.

Upon proof of enrollment, scholarships will be paid directly to the educational institution for educational expenses i.e. tuition, room and board.

Scholarship applications must be signed and not exceed five single sided pages. Applications must be accompanied by two letters of reference, the applicants ACT and/or SAT scores, and all college transcripts. Applicants graduating from high school must include all high school transcripts.
